UNDERWORLD:AWAKENING (review)

UNDERWORLD:AWAKENING

Directed by: Len Wiseman

Whoohoo!
Finally watched Underworld 4 today.

So this is really my first time to write a movie review or a reaction about a movie that I've watched. I don't know if  I'm good or what with this matter so don't expect too much, though, I would love it if you'll enjoy reading this post and maybe leave a message, ask questions, or criticize my work.

The movie as like the synopsis said, is a war between lycans and vampires as the human discovered their existence. Selene, played by Kate Beckinsale is a vampire who fell in love with a lycan and been captivated by humans for 12 years.
She didn't realize it until one of the humans who captived her set her free to find someone whom they're calling subject two.

David played by Theo James found Selene and through her special gift of seeing visions, they found subject 2 who's a 12 year old girl and played by India Eisley. Eve or subject 2 is a hybrid. She's a half vampire and half lycan.

Selene, Eve, and David were attacked by Lycans and Eve got hurt. She wasn't healing (healing fast is one characteristic of vampires) so they brought her to the vampire's hidden fortress and got her healed.
Sadly, the other vampires, especially the leader Thomas played by Charles Dance who's the father of David don't want Selene and Eve to stay because they knew that Selene fell in love with a Lycan and Eve is a hybrid and she's the daughter of Selene and Michael played by Scott Speedman.

The lycans are also interested with Eve because  of her strength and abilities so they attack the vampire's fortress to get her and they succeed. They got Eve. David and Selene almost got killed and more than half of the vampires got killed because of the unbelievable strength  of the lycans.

Sooner, Selene, with the help of Detective Sebastian played by Michael Ealy found out that Dr. Jacob Lane played by Stephen Rea is doing tests and experiments to make the lycans stronger.

Selene made a plan to save her daughter and with the help of detective Sebastian and David, they got Eve back but they didn't got to talk to Michael...

and that's how it ended. :\

Why there's a ":\" face? Because the length of the film is kinda short. hahaha. It just lasted for 80-90 minutes in my watch and that more or less than 90 mins. were just spent in violence and war, but that's not that bad since the mood is really war and though I'm not really a fan of suspense/action film, the mood of the film got into me. The fear of Eve and the anger of Selene got me.

The setting was held in the city compared to the setting of the first movie which was held in forests and old castles. And for me it's good since there are doctors and experiments.

If I'm gonna rank cinematography and sound, I'll give 8 for both.

One thing  I really didn't like is that if you didn't watch the 1st to 3rd film, you can't really catch up. I have proven that since one of my friends, who's with me when I watched the movie haven't watched the 1st to 3rd movie and she can't really understand unless we tell her why certain scenes were happening.

One more thing is, when I'm seeing Selene, I'm seeing Alice of Resident Evil (played by Mila Jovovich) though they're playing two different roles, I can't help to think of Alice because of Selene's catsuit and 2 pistols. For me it was Alice's. haha. I don't know, maybe I'm just Alice's fan.

All in all, I enjoyed the heartbeat stopping film and will definitely wait for the 5th movie and hoping that I can still write about it. :)

Since the idea of bringing a pen and a notebook to take notes for my blog didn't cross my mind, this is all I got. :|

So, that's all I can say. Hope you enjoyed reading and hoping that while reading my post, you've got to watch it through my eyes.

P.S.: promise, on the next film that I'll watch, I'm gonna bring pen and will gonna take down notes so I can write tons. haha

:D
